Ramon Nunes: Bridging Brazil and China in the optical communications industry

2024-12-13Ramon Nunes, a Brazilian, joined the optoelectronics division of Jiangsu SUMEC Electromechanical Company three years ago. In 2020, the company's Optoelectronics Division embarked on creating a localized operational team to strengthen the presence of its Navigator cable brand in Brazil's optical communications market. With over a decade of experience in communications technology, Ramon was among the first to join as an after-sales engineer.

In his role, he collaborated closely with Brazilian Internet service providers, addressing user needs with agility and precision. Beyond technical support, he worked alongside the Chinese team to penetrate frontline markets, conducting on-site product installations and gathering insights into end users' personalized demands for optical cable products.
As Navigator's influence grew, so did Ramon's expertise. From team management and brand promotion to business planning, he emerged as a core leader of the Brazilian team, guiding local staff and expanding the company's customer base to regions like Santa Catarina, Maranhão, and Paraná.

Under his leadership, the China-Brazil team extended its reach across Latin America, exploring new markets and nurturing customer relationships. Reflecting on his journey, Ramon recalls his humble beginning as an "after-sales engineer". He acknowledged the company's platform which not only provided endless opportunities but also exposed him "to a much wider world".
He has also built lasting friendships with his Chinese colleagues. In April, he realized a long-held dream of visiting China. During his trip, he attended the China Import and Export Fair, toured industrial facilities, joined dragon boat walking activities, and immersed himself in the company's business and corporate culture.
